The Galactic Planner: it all started with a love story!

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since we started building the Galactic Planner. Looking back, it feels like we’ve come a long way from just an idea to something that many of you use daily and love. 

Let’s take a moment to share the beautiful love story behind the Galactic Planner!

The beautiful Story Behind the Galactic Planner

The inspiration for the Galactic Planner is a love story. It all started with Austin, Joni Patry’s son. Growing up, his mom used to give him a list of key dates/moments that would give him some guidance and direction in life.

Austin would always take notes on his phone, and now and then, he would look at them, which helped him make important decisions.

One day, Joni predicted that he would meet the person he was destined to marry. At the time, he didn't think much of it because he was focused on starting a new business and wasn't looking for a relationship. However, on the exact date he had predicted, he attended a party and met Colby. They instantly connected and chatted the entire night. 

That night, Austin shared with Colby the notes from his mother and told her ,“My mom predicted that I would meet my wife today." Now, Austin and Colby are happily married!

Joni shared later that the astrological transits on that day were particularly special for Austin: Uranus activating Venus, Venus trine with Saturn, and a direct opposition to his Moon, creating all the perfect circumstances for this to happen. 

Make these predictions accessible to everyone

Fast forward a bit, and that experience planted a seed for something bigger. Austin started thinking—what if you could do that for everyone? How could we automate this process? Make it accessible to anyone, no matter where they are, so they can know which days are good for what. 

The idea materialized into the Galactic Planner, an astrology tool based on Vedic astrology that empowers users by calculating their birth charts and interpreting the planetary transits they experience. 

Joni Patry herself sat and spent time working on the different transits. And to make it extra special and differentiate ourselves from other astrology apps, we collaborated with Joni's talented student, Shree, who wrote over 10,000 detailed descriptions for the Dashas system, a vital aspect based on the position of one’s natal moon and its ruling planet.

Building the Galactic Planner Together

With this vision in mind, Austin teamed up with Dhia, a trusted developer and astrology lover. Their teamwork laid the foundation for the Galactic Planner, combining advanced calculations with user-friendly features.

We officially launched the Galactic Planner on July 30th, 2024. The first few hours were hectic—servers overwhelmed, email outages—but the response was so positive that we knew we were onto something. We got great feedback, and we kept working to improve it, adding new features and refining the experience.

A year of growth and expansion

Over the past year, our team has grown from just 3 people to an international team of 8 members from all around the world. We’re still learning, still building, and still excited about where this can go. 

This anniversary feels like a milestone but this is only the beginning. The Galactic Planner is a reflection of passion, collaboration, and a belief that everyone should be able to connect with astrology to navigate their lives.
